7 Things in Your Home You Might Be Neglecting to Vaccum
Cleaning your home can be one of the most tedious and annoying tasks you have to deal with on a regular basis. However, there are some things in your home that you probably haven’t vacuumed for quite some time, even though they could use it. Here are seven things in your home that you might be neglecting to vaccum, despite the fact that they could use it.
1) Corners
Dust and dirt love to accumulate in corners, so make sure you give them a good vaccuming every once in awhile. This will help keep your home clean and dust-free. As an added bonus, it will also prevent the buildup of allergens and irritants that could be harmful to people with asthma or allergies.
I just cleaned up my whole house! Now I feel like everything is spotless!
Vaccuming’s not such a bad job after all!
It really does take less time than I thought it would! But there are still seven more things left on this list! What am I forgetting? If only there was some way to keep track of what needs done around the house.
Oh wait, why didn’t I think of this before? With Postagram from Canada Post, you can send old fashioned postcards from anywhere in the world without ever leaving your computer. Who knew that something as simple as sending a postcard could be so convenient?
2) Carpet edges
Carpet edges are often overlooked when it comes to vacuuming, but they can actually be one of the dirtiest areas in your home. The reason is that dirt and dust accumulate along the edges of the carpet, and over time, this can lead to a build-up of grime. To keep your carpets looking clean and fresh, be sure to vaccum along the edges on a regular basis. If you have particularly difficult carpeted stairs or staircase, consider using a hose attachment or suction nozzle for these places. When you’re done vaccuming, you might want to use an upright vaccum cleaner with a soft brush attachment for stairs so that you can get those hard-to-reach corners without causing damage. The sides of furniture: What’s just as important as having clean floors? Having clean furniture!
3) Baseboards
Baseboards are one of the most important things to vaccum, yet they are often neglected. Baseboards collect dust, hair, and other debris that can eventually make their way into your living space. Vacuuming your baseboards on a regular basis will help keep your home clean and dust-free. The corners are where dirt accumulates and is hard to reach, so use a crevice tool or hand brush to get into those areas.
4) Door frames
Door frames are often overlooked when it comes to vaccuming, but they can actually harbor a lot of dirt and dust. To clean them, simply vacuum along the top, bottom, and sides of the frame using the attachment on your vaccum cleaner. Don’t forget to move the furniture out of the way so you can reach all areas! When you’re done, put everything back in place so the room looks neat again.
5) Underneath appliances
Appliances are some of the dirtiest places in your home, and yet they’re often neglected when it comes to vaccuming. Make sure to vaccum underneath your fridge, stove, and other appliances on a regular basis. Not only will this help keep your home clean, but it can also extend the life of your appliances.
6) Dust bunnies on top of your fridge
Even though you can’t see them, there’s a good chance dust bunnies are lurking on top of your fridge. To get rid of them, start by unplugging your fridge and moving it away from the wall. Then, use a vaccum with a long hose attachment to reach the dust bunnies. If they’re stubborn, you can also use a damp cloth to wipe them away. Don’t forget to plug your fridge back in and push it back against the wall when you’re done!
7) Ceiling fans (if you have them!)
Ceiling fans are one of the most commonly neglected areas when it comes to vaccuming. Not only do they collect dust, but they can also be a breeding ground for mold and mildew. To clean your ceiling fan, simply vaccum the blades with the attachment on your vaccum cleaner. For a deeper clean, you can remove the blades and wash them with soap and water. Don’t forget to wipe down the motor as well!
